KV7 is the tomb of Ramesses II, also known as Ramesses the Great, who was a pharaoh of the 19th dynasty of ancient Egypt. He ruled from c. 1279 to 1213 BC and is considered one of the most powerful and influential pharaohs in history.

KV7 is located in the main valley, opposite the tomb of his sons, KV5, and near to the tomb of his son and successor, Merenptah, KV82. It is one of the larger tombs in the valley, with a total length of about 210 meters (690 feet). It has a bent-axis plan, with five curving corridors that lead to a well chamber, a pillared chamber, and a burial chamber with six side chambers. The tomb is decorated with scenes and texts from various funerary books, such as the Book of Gates, the Book of the Heavenly Cow, the Amduat, the Litany of Re, and the Book of the Dead.

KV7 was probably constructed in the early years of Ramesses II’s reign and took about 10 to 12 years to complete. However, it was badly damaged by flash floods and tomb robbers over time. Many of the decorations have been eroded or defaced, and most of the funerary objects have been stolen or destroyed. The mummy of Ramesses II was also removed from the tomb and relocated to another place for protection.
